Daylights Savings Sucks

First and foremost, excuse the spelling, grammatical, and other issues with this blog for the following reasons:

1. 3:00 A.M

2. It really should be 2:00 A.M

and 3. ..... I'm tired.....

So lets blog about life,

Currently in my life, for all those I regularly don't talk to, I.... hmmm... lets just make another list. They seem to be much easier for poor old me.

1. Drum Core.

I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY RAISED A SMALL DRUM CORE OUT OF THE BOWLS OF BAND! AND IT IS ACTUALLY TURNING OUT QUITE NICELY! We are performing a piece called Stinkin' Garbage. It is a piece produced by Rolloff (I think) and is performed on metal cans. Garbage cans. Get the correlation? But due to lack of equipment and time (and I'm plain lazy) we are using Metal Oil Barrels which provide a more ringy, loud sound which I do not like. So on Friday, I padded them down to get a desired taste out of them. Sound excellent now. Anyway, the Drum Core is made up of the 5 percussionists we actually have and 3 non-believers, 2 tromboners and 1 trumpet. As result, they lack rhythm experience. They are learning quickly and we are going to have this ready by April! So excited.

Here's a taste of what it should sound like...

Enjoy, hopefully we can be as lively.

2. My car.

After Feb 14., when my door was smashed in.... It has now been replaced. Well today when Amber left, I actually had time with Austin. We cleaned my car. ITS LIKE NEW! I bet you, if you light a lighter in there, the car will go up in flames because of all the scents and chemicals in there. Armor All here, Clorox there, Window Cleaner there. All the works. We went to the automated wash and cleaned there. Austin, unsuspectedly, didn't know I rolled down the window on him, and he got a spray to the back. Made my day, fantastic.

Brigham, for christmas, gave me a air freshener that smells like strawberries, blessed by a catholic priest, and is a portrait of Jesus. Fantastic little thing it is. I'll get a photo on here soon enough. Here is the thing though, as soon as I put it in and came back to my car, it wouldn't start. Battery died. I think it is because I'm not catholic. Or I don't like to touch little boys. Either or, I blame that freshener.

3. U of U Concert.

Last weekend, or two weekends ago I think, I went to the U of U Band Honors workshop. Josh Foster, Tromboner, on Drum Core, and I went to this thing with out any idea of how it would work out. I got there Friday afternoon, was greeted by ladies who gave me the name tag and info, and sent me off into the depths of Gardner Hall unwillingly. Then when the time came, I went to the band room. Wow U of U has excellent facilities compared to BYU. Excellent music program they have at the U. It startled me actually. Anyway, went to the band room with the percussionists and was introduced to people that all was as scared as I was. Nervous silence filled the room as our advisor tried to get things going. Well eventually we all warmed up to each other, and I met myself a new friend. Bria is her name and Layton is her hometown. Talked to her about school, family, sports, band, music, all sorts of stuff before we actually got the music.

I was awarded with three different pieces to play. The best being snare on the song King Cotton by John Philip Sousa. We rehearsed until ten then to the hotel for the night.

8:00 A.M. came rolling around as I found myself back at Gardner Hall, we rehearsed for that day, say amazing acts from the U of U students percussionists, then performed in Gardner Hall to all the parents and people. Went rather great. The whole ordeal was fun. Learned about music, played with talented musicians, and met new friends.

The best part was going to lunch on saturday. Josh and I walked to Einstein Bros., just a couple blocks away, and ventured into the local shops. I felt liberated as I got to experience college life that was accepting to different ways and cultures. Small Town boy in the City. Fantastic. Went to the bike shop, skate shop, and Gray Whale. And loaded up on free magazines and such which made the day.

Well, it is late, time for bed.

Enjoy.

Uh... hello. Is this thing on?

I'm Sean from the small town of Nephi, Utah. I enjoy photography and Percussion. Nothing much else to say really. This is my first blog post. Don't really know what to say. Must be a problem of mine, not really having the right words to fit the moment. Life is great and snow is too.

Lets just say... This blog is half assed. So far...
